About Louis Leeder

Attorney Louis Leeder graduated Suma Cum Laude from Yeshiva University in 1986 with a major in political science and economics. He then graduated with a Master’s Degree in social work from Wurzweiler School of Social Work from Yeshiva University in 1987. He is also an ordained rabbi from Yeshiva University. In 1990, he graduated from Cardozo School of Law. In 1979, he founded the National Association for the Jewish Poor helping over 23,000 poor Jews in the U.S. and 8,000 in Israel. On June 2, 1986, Leeder won the Presidents Volunteer Action Award from President Ronald Reagan - the youngest person to win such an award! Prior to that, he won awards from the city of New York presented by mayor Edward Koch and borough presidents of Brooklyn and the Bronx. In 1987, he won the Civilian Congressional Award from Congress. He also won citations from New York City Council and New York State Assembly.

Louis Leeder has written extensive articles and publications on the plight of the poor. He has volunteered over 2,500 hours at the VA Hospital as his father was a disabled World War II Veteran. Both of his parents and he were born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He has lectured about immigration law to the Russian and Spanish and Chinese communities. He was a rabbi in a synagogue for six years from 1985 to 1991. He has been active politically helping out in the mayoral runs of Rudolph Guiliani. He ran a Jewish Sunday School for eight years for Russian immigrant children from 1995 to 2003. As an active member in his synagogue, he also works with many organizations that help orphans, disabled children and children with cancer.
